About Me
I’m Jackie Thomas-Teague, a property manager and landlord with over 20 years of experience.
I’m a life member and former President of the Wellington Property Investors’ Association.
Awarded NZ Property Investors’ Federation and Resene RentSkills Highly commended award 2023.
My previous property management company, Rental Results, was well respected by clients, competitors, tenants, and industry professionals including Tenancy Tribunal.
I own investment properties in various regions, most of them retrofitted to Home Fit or Home Fit Plus Certification by the Green Building Council.
I’m an experienced renovator and project manager, both for myself and for clients.
I teach landlords and property managers how to do a great job through various courses, talks and coaching.
I’m passionate about business success and sensible Tenancy Legislation.
I’ve consulted with Government departments on investment property matters over the years.
When I’m not managing property, I’m running an eco-friendly BnB (EcoFarmstay.NZ), involved in the Tree Crops Association, enjoying a permaculture-based lifestyle block (I hold a PDC), and spending time with my wonderful family.
My personal qualities that make me an incredible property manager:
I’m known for reaching the goals I set, no matter how ambitious.
I see adversity as opportunity and find the silver lining in every situation.
I add value to every situation from my diverse background, experience, and interests.
I’m a life-long learner – every day I learn something new is a great day.
I’m confident speaking up and sharing what I know.
I’m efficient and avoid waste wherever possible.
I have an abundance attitude and celebrate others achievements.
I genuinely enjoy finding solutions to problems, untangling knots, and fixing things.
I’m passionate about sustainability, including being financially sustainable, to benefit everyone.
Some of my other skillsets that have come in useful in property management:
Beekeeping, to remove a swarm bothering tenants.
Amateur Entomology – reassured many tenants about the safety of the 6 & 8 legged visitors, and dealt with the problematic ones.
Agronomy – knowledge about soil, plants, fungi, and animals has assisted in numerous situations, and not just in the rural zone.
DIY skills – have appropriate expectations of tradespeople and their work, as well as being able to remedy quite a few things with a toothpick and a screwdriver.
Psychology – the power of working well with others.
Service industry experience – creating memorable experiences for customers for all the right reasons.
Property Investment – add value and create appealing properties to improve return on investment.
Early Childhood to Adult Educator – understand learning and teaching to help people grow.
Computer literate, including social media engagement – this gets a lot of clicks on property ads, getting your property seen widely.
I can also operate a digger, truck, and motorbike, though those have yet to come in useful on the job.
